Treating ML Engineers Like Software Engineers

Software engineering is deterministic — if the code is correct, the feature works. ML engineering is probabilistic — a correctly implemented model might still not achieve acceptable accuracy. When you ask an ML engineer 'when will this be done?', the honest answer is often 'I don't know yet.' Pushing for a firm date before the model's feasibility is validated creates a trust-destroying dynamic.
