Layer 1: Output trust

Layer 3: Organizational trust

Output Trust — The User-Facing Layer

Output trust is the layer most AI PMs focus on, and rightly so — it's where users form their first impression. The interventions that work: visible provenance, calibrated confidence, graceful uncertainty, and consistent style.

Confidence indicators

"I'm highly confident" vs. "this is my best guess" — even simple labels improve trust calibration significantly.

Honest refusals

Data handling clarity

Where does data go? How long is it kept? Is it used for training? Plain-language answers earn enterprise trust faster than any spec sheet.

Security posture

SOC 2, ISO 27001, transparent disclosure of incidents. Required for enterprise AI buyers; nice-to-have for consumer.

Public commitments and follow-through

Public AI principles backed by visible follow-through. Cheap to publish; expensive to break.

Founder and leader voice

Public posts by leadership about how AI is built and operated. Personal accountability builds organizational trust.

Incident transparency
